Fasting and Sacrifice Projects: Supporting Communities in Crisis

Charitable initiatives are powerful tools for both alleviating human suffering and fostering strong, resilient communities. They not only address immediate needs but also uphold vital human and religious values such as compassion, solidarity, and social justice. These values are essential to building inclusive and sustainable societies.

In Somalia, ongoing humanitarian crises—driven by drought, displacement, and internal conflict—have left many families struggling to meet their basic needs, particularly access to food. In such contexts, fasting and sacrifice projects play a critical role in supporting vulnerable households by addressing food insecurity and easing economic hardship.

TFED’s Role in Fasting and Sacrifice Projects

The Tawfiq Foundation for Education and Development (TFED) is committed to implementing fasting and sacrifice projects that support families affected by humanitarian emergencies, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas. Through these initiatives, the foundation aims to:

  • Distribute food aid during the holy month of Ramadan to help families observe fasting with dignity and meet their daily nutritional needs.
  • Provide sacrificial meat (Qurbani) during Eid al-Adha, ensuring that poor and displaced families share in the blessings of the occasion.
  • Collaborate with local communities and partner organizations—both national and international—to deliver aid where it is most needed and to promote a spirit of collective responsibility.
  • Support social cohesion and reduce vulnerability by ensuring that no family is left behind during times of religious and humanitarian significance.

These efforts not only bring immediate relief but also contribute to building a more caring and connected Somali society, where shared values guide action in times of need.
